Custom work

When the catalog grade is not your grade.

A label claim, a fill weight, or a clear beverage can all push an extract outside the standard specification. We adjust the ratio, marker, carrier, and particle size around the formula — and tell you what the process can and cannot hold.

What can change

Six variables, one written specification.

Every custom project starts from a standard process and changes one or two variables. Changing all six at once is a development project, not a purchase order — we will say so before quoting.

Extract ratio

From a 2:1 concentrate to a 50:1 or higher ratio, set against a defined starting herb weight and documented on the TDS.

Marker standardization

Standardize to a different marker or range — withanolides, curcuminoids, bacosides, saponins — by HPLC or UV as agreed.

Solvent system

Water, ethanol, or a water–ethanol blend selected for the marker chemistry, with the residual solvent panel matched to the process.

Carrier and solubility

Spray-dried on maltodextrin or gum arabic, or supplied carrier-free. Water-soluble and water-dispersible grades for drinks.

Particle size and flow

Milled to 40–200 mesh, granulated for capsule-line flow, or micronized for dispersion and mouthfeel.

Blends and premixes

Two- or three-botanical premixes, dilute grades for low-dose actives, and carrier systems built around your fill weight.

From herb to drum

A process that can be audited.

Custom does not mean undocumented. The same release discipline applies, with additional analytical work where the specification requires it.

01

Raw material selection

Herb is sourced against a written specification with origin, harvest window, and pesticide history reviewed before release to production.

02

Extraction and concentration

Water, ethanol, or water-ethanol systems are selected for the marker chemistry, then concentrated under controlled temperature and vacuum.

03

Standardization

Lots are blended or adjusted to the agreed marker range, so the specification holds from the first drum to the last.

04

Drying and sizing

Spray drying, vacuum drying, or granulation is matched to the grade, followed by milling to the requested mesh.

05

Batch release

QC testing against the specification, COA issue, and a retained sample kept for the agreed retention period.

06

Export packing

Food-grade inner liner, fiber drum or carton, palletization, and documents prepared for the destination market.

Feasibility first

What we need to answer honestly.

A custom quotation is only useful if it can be repeated. Before pricing, we review the herb, the target chemistry, the application, and the analytical method. If the target cannot be met consistently, we say so and propose the closest workable grade.

  • Botanical name, plant part, and preferred origin if it matters to the label
  • Target marker, range, and analytical method — or a competitor COA to match
  • Application and final matrix: capsule, tablet, gummy, drink, or topical
  • Annual volume, first-order quantity, and required delivery window
  • Destination market and the documentation your quality team needs

What comes back

  • A written counter-specification with the marker method, carrier, and physical parameters.
  • An honest minimum run quantity, driven by the herb lot and processing steps.
  • A sample plan and indicative timeline, including analytical release.
  • Price break points so the second order can be planned before the first ships.

Inquiry

Describe the grade you need

Send the target specification or a competitor COA. A feasibility note usually comes back within one business day.

Documents needed (optional)

We use your details only to respond to this inquiry. Technical documents are shared after a specification review. Prefer email? Write to info@rainwoodbio.com.

Confidentiality

Your formula stays yours.

We quote against the specification you provide. We do not reuse a customer's proprietary blend for another buyer, and an NDA can be signed before technical files are exchanged.

Minimum runs

Custom minimums are real minimums.

A custom run carries fixed setup, cleaning, and analytical release costs. The minimum we quote is the smallest lot that can be produced repeatably — not a number designed to start a negotiation.

Next step

Bring the specification. We will bring the process.

If you have a reference COA, a label claim, or a target dose per serving, that is enough to begin the review.
