Pet Supplements

Botanicals for pets, with species and dose review up front.

The brief

Pet supplement brands are growing quickly, and botanical ingredients are moving from treats into chews, powders, and liquids. The technical work is similar to human supplements, but the safety review is not: species sensitivity, palatability, and dose per kilogram all change the specification. We supply the extract; the animal-safety review stays with the brand's veterinarian or formulator.

What changes in this format

Three decisions that shape the grade.

These are the questions we work through before a sample is sent. Answering them early avoids a second sample round and a reformulation.

Palatability is a formulation constraint

Dogs and cats reject bitter botanicals quickly. Request a taste and odor sample, and consider a lower-dose, higher-marker grade to keep the inclusion level small.

Species sensitivity is not a marketing question

Some botanicals commonly used in humans are not appropriate for every species. Confirm the target animal and intended dose with a qualified formulator before launch.

Documentation should match the channel

Pet specialty retail and e-commerce platforms increasingly request the same COA and allergen pack as human supplements. Our standard document set applies.

Next step

Describe the finished product. We will name the grade.

Include the matrix, target dose, process conditions, and destination market. The reply will state what fits and what does not.
